Materials: Gold-Plated Sculptural Hand (Open Palm, Cradling Position), Natural Opal (Raw Nugget, Sloped Cliff-Form, Milky Base with Green, Amber, and Pink Fire Rising Toward the Ridge, Semi-Translucent)
A Note on the Stone: This opal reveals its fire most brightly in natural daylight or under strong light — in dim rooms it grows quiet, keeping its colours to itself until the light returns. Please keep the stone away from water, oils, and lotions to preserve its brilliance.
Set into the open palm is a small opal that does not sit flat. It leans — one edge low, the other rising into a soft ridge — the way a stone catches on a hillside just before it would have kept rolling. Beneath the milky surface, green fire pools in the low ground; amber gathers along the slope; a thread of pink flashes across the ridge when the pendant turns. It is the shape of a step. The shape of the small place where a climb pauses without ending.
THE CHARACTER ARC:
What She Held to Keep Going
A foothold is not a summit. It is not the view from the top, or the moment of arrival, or any of the things a woman is told to want. A foothold is smaller and truer than that. It is the ledge she found halfway up, when the wall above was still too high and the ground below was already too far — the small place that took her weight, held it, and let her breathe long enough to reach for the next thing.
This opal is that ledge. Its form is a slope caught mid-motion, milky at the base where the stone rests, brightening toward the ridge where the fire gathers as if lit from below. Green in the low ground. Amber up the incline. A quiet pink flash along the crest, held for a second, gone by the next turn of the hand. What she carries here is not the mountain. It is the one small place on it that agreed to hold her.
This is for the woman who is still climbing. She has stopped expecting the peak to announce itself. She has learned, instead, to notice the ledges — the small yeses, the friend who answered, the hour of good work, the morning she woke and did not dread the day — and to hold them long enough to catch her breath. She keeps going. Not because the top is close. Because she has found, again, a place to stand.
Avoid Water & Chemicals :
Keep all pieces dry and away from water. This is vital for The Renaissance Edit's vintage brass, as it prevents oxidation. Also, avoid perfumes, hairspray, lotions, and harsh cleaning agents; they can dull stones and react with metals.
Proper Storage :
When not worn, store your treasures in a cool, dry place. Keep them out of direct sunlight, ideally in individual soft pouches or a lined jewelry box, to protect their brilliance.
Brass Care :
Vintage brass naturally develops a rich patina over time. For oxidation or spots on Renaissance Edit brass, a gentle polish with a soft cloth will easily restore its warm, golden luster. Embrace this as part of its living history!
