The Prima Ballerina

ERA: A forgotten velvet seat in a grand, empty opera house

STYLE NOTES: Gothic Romance, Midnight Shimmer, Dramatic & Graceful, Flawed Beauty

PAIRS WELL WITH: The crisp collar of a white blouse, the deep black of a velvet dress, and the haunting melody of a cello. This is not a jewel for the daylight; it is a treasure for the twilight, a medal for a soul who finds beauty in the shadows.

The Character Arc

This is not a piece of jewelry; it is a performance captured in crystal and glass. Unsigned, yet unmistakably Juliana, this brooch is a masterpiece of dramatic contrast. Its sweeping leaves, crafted from deep, mysterious black glass, are as elegant as a swan's wing. Nestled within are brilliant Aurora Borealis rhinestones, flashing with the iridescent colors of a midnight oil slick on water.

Imagine it pinned to the lapel of a coat, a silent, graceful companion on a walk through autumn mist. Picture it as the sole, dramatic accent on a simple black dress, catching the low light of a candlelit dinner, whispering tales from a forgotten opera. It doesn't seek the sun; it thrives in the twilight, a testament to the profound beauty found in melancholy.

The few faint scratches on the black stones are not damages; they are the marks of a life lived, the gentle scuffs on a ballerina's pointe shoes after a final, flawless performance. They are the honest traces of its story, waiting for a new act to begin.

Don't just wear a brooch. Wear a ballet. Let the dance continue with you.

Description

Maker: Unsigned Beauty, attributed to DeLizza & Elster (Juliana)

Era: Likely Circa 1960s

Materials: Gold-tone metal, Black glass navettes, Aurora Borealis (AB) coated glass rhinestones.

Signature: Unsigned, as is characteristic of the vast majority of Juliana jewelry. Authenticated by classic D&E construction identifiers: puddling solder, layered open-back settings, and specific stone combinations.

Measurements:

Length: Approx. 3.07 inches (7.8 cm).

Weight: A substantial 27.2g, indicative of its high-quality construction.

Condition: VERY GOOD VINTAGE CONDITION (8/10)

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: This is a structurally sound and brilliantly sparkling collector's piece. All stones are present and secure in their settings. The Aurora Borealis rhinestones are exceptionally vibrant and fiery. As is common with age and gentle wear, there are a few very fine, superficial scratches on the surface of the black glass stones, visible only upon close inspection under direct light. They are not deep, do not detract from the overall dramatic beauty of the piece, and are honestly reflected in the price. The pin mechanism is straight and functions perfectly.
