DESCRIPTION:
Brand: The Character Arc · What She Held · What She Was Born Holding
Origin: Handcrafted · Original Design · Made to Order
Birth Month: August
Symbolism: Light, growth, and protection from the dark — the ancient Egyptians called peridot the gem of the sun, and wore it to keep night terrors and shadow away.
Size: Length: 1.4 inches (Sculptural Hand, including bail) | Weight: approx. 4.5g (Featherlight & Delicate) | Stone: Raw Peridot Nugget, approximately 6–9mm across
Materials: Available in two finishes — Gold-Plated Sculptural Hand or Rhodium-Plated Sculptural Hand (Open Palm, Cradling Position) · Natural Peridot (Raw Nugget, Vivid Grass-Green to Green-Apple, Transparent to Semi-Translucent Crystal)
A Note on the Stone: Peridot is softer than opal and much more forgiving of daily wear, but it still prefers to stay away from harsh chemicals, perfume sprays, and long soaks. Wipe gently with a soft cloth to keep the crystal clear.
A Note on Fate: Each Meadow is cut from a different piece of the earth. No two peridots are alike — some lean deep grass, some are pale as new apples, some catch a small internal shimmer like sun through a leaf. We ship the stone fate sends. If you would prefer to choose your own, write to us or send a message on Instagram, and we will photograph the peridots currently in the studio and hold one for you.
Set into the palm is a small piece of peridot the colour of grass in the last week of August — vivid, unclouded, and lit from within the way a leaf is lit when the sun comes through the back of it. The stone is raw. Its faces are the ones the earth gave it, not the ones a wheel would have imposed. In gold, it reads warm — like an orchard at noon. In silver, it reads cool — like the underside of a leaf just after rain. Either way, the green does not dim. Peridot is one of the few gemstones with only one colour, and it commits to that colour entirely.
THE CHARACTER ARC:
The Stone She Was Born Holding
August is the month when the year has stopped rushing forward. The grass has grown as tall as it means to grow. The apples on the tree are still green but no longer small. The light stays late. It is the month that knows how to be enough without asking to be more, and the stone the month gave us is the same: peridot, one green all the way through, unbothered by the pressure to sparkle in any other colour.
The ancient Egyptians mined peridot on a small volcanic island in the Red Sea and called it the gem of the sun — not because it looked like sunlight, but because they believed it carried some of the sun inside itself, enough to keep the dark away. They wore it to guard against nightmares, against the shadow that crosses the mind at four in the morning, against the small daily fears that dim a person from within. A stone of light. A stone that grows things. A stone for the ones who were born into the month that ripens.
This is for the woman born in August, and for anyone who loves her. Hold in the palm the colour of the field she came from — the green that grew her, the light she was born holding, the small green weight of a birthday claimed on her own terms. She was made in the month of ripening. She has been carrying the light ever since.
Avoid Water & Chemicals :
Keep all pieces dry and away from water. This is vital for The Renaissance Edit's vintage brass, as it prevents oxidation. Also, avoid perfumes, hairspray, lotions, and harsh cleaning agents; they can dull stones and react with metals.
Proper Storage :
When not worn, store your treasures in a cool, dry place. Keep them out of direct sunlight, ideally in individual soft pouches or a lined jewelry box, to protect their brilliance.
Brass Care :
Vintage brass naturally develops a rich patina over time. For oxidation or spots on Renaissance Edit brass, a gentle polish with a soft cloth will easily restore its warm, golden luster. Embrace this as part of its living history!
