A winged cherub reclines across the center of this large oval locket, eyes half-closed, fingers drawing music from a harp held loosely against its body. Around it, musical notes and treble clefs drift upward like smoke, carved into the same creamy ivory resin as the figure itself. The background is a deep tortoiseshell amber — burnt caramel at the edges darkening to espresso at the top — that gives the entire scene the warmth of a painting lit by a single candle. The brass case is finished in matte gold with a scalloped border, finer and more ornate than its companion piece, lending it the feel of a reliquary or a pocket-sized altarpiece.
