A brass kingfisher caught mid-dive — wings fully spread, body angled downward, every flight feather individually etched — against an oval of deep red jasper. The stone is the color of old wine held against firelight: oxblood at its center, warming to a brighter rust where natural mineral grains catch the light. The bird occupies the upper half of the oval, leaving the lower half as open red sky — or open red water, depending on how you read the scene. It is either ascending or plunging, and the pendant does not tell you which. At 6.6g it is light enough to forget you are wearing it, until you catch its reflection and remember: something is in motion.

The bird surfaces empty-beaked, shakes the water from its feathers, and flies back to the same branch to wait again. The courage is not in the success. The courage is in the willingness to fall — knowing the water is cold, knowing the odds are slim, knowing that the only alternative to diving is staying on the branch forever.
