An oval brass locket with a border of flowers and leaves engraved all around the edge, framing a single large cabochon at its center. The vintage glass stone sits lavender-violet at its base, overlaid with a shifting iridescent film — flashes of green, teal, pink, and gold that surface and sink as the stone turns in the light. The surface has the quality of a thin film pulled tight across the dome, with faint ripples visible where the glass was poured. The brass has the warm tone of aged gold, and the engraved border of blossoms and foliage frames the stone like a window set into an old wall. The cabochon’s colour is never quite the same twice — look away and look back, and the greens have moved, the pink has drifted somewhere else, the violet underneath has deepened or lightened by a shade.
