A brass honeybee lands at the center of a grey agate heart — wings spread, legs gripping, body angled with the purposeful tilt of an insect that has just arrived and is already working. The bee is rendered with naturalist precision: every segment of the abdomen textured, every vein in the wings incised, six legs splayed in the exact geometry of a real bee at rest on a warm surface. It is large relative to the stone — not a decorative accent but a presence, an occupant, the clear subject of the piece. The grey agate beneath it has the colour and translucency of smoke trapped in quartz: warm taupe at the center, lightening to a pale blush where the stone thins at the edges, allowing light to pass through like early sun through a jar of clover honey.
