An oval brass locket with a scalloped outer border and fine crosshatched engraving framing a single large cabochon at its center. The vintage glass stone is dominated by green at its heart — bright pond-water green pooling across the middle — with patches of deep blue around the edges and scattered gold-amber fragments distributed across the surface like leaves on water. The gold patches cluster irregularly, some overlapping each other, some drifting alone, catching light at different depths. The brass has the warm tone of aged gold, with the engraved border catching light in parallel ridges. The cabochon’s surface is smooth and domed, and the whole stone reads like a pond viewed from above — the green water underneath, the gold shapes floating on top, the blue of the sky reflected at the edges where the water meets its shore.
THE CHARACTER ARC:
The Afternoon of a Pond
A pond doesn’t really do anything. That’s the point of a pond. On an afternoon in late spring, when the sun is high enough that it hits the water directly, a pond simply holds a scene: the green water underneath, the lily pads floating on top with their round waxy leaves and the occasional gold-petaled flower, the dark reflections of trees at the edge, the small flashes of gold where the sun breaks through onto the surface. If you stand at the edge and look down, you can see the whole structure — layered, still, lit from above, alive beneath. Nothing happens for long minutes at a time. A fish moves. A frog shifts. The light drifts across the water as the hour moves. This stone is that pond. The green at the center is the water, the gold patches are the lily leaves and the sun broken on the surface, and the deep blue at the edges is the sky where the water meets its border. The scalloped brass border holds it like the mossy stone edge of a garden pond. Wear it when you want to carry something that doesn’t need to be doing anything. Open it and place inside whatever belongs to the still parts of your life. Close the clasp, and the pond stays with you — green and gold and quiet, with the afternoon sun always just about to break through the next leaf.
Avoid Water & Chemicals :
Keep all pieces dry and away from water. This is vital for The Renaissance Edit's vintage brass, as it prevents oxidation. Also, avoid perfumes, hairspray, lotions, and harsh cleaning agents; they can dull stones and react with metals.
Proper Storage :
When not worn, store your treasures in a cool, dry place. Keep them out of direct sunlight, ideally in individual soft pouches or a lined jewelry box, to protect their brilliance.
Brass Care :
Vintage brass naturally develops a rich patina over time. For oxidation or spots on Renaissance Edit brass, a gentle polish with a soft cloth will easily restore its warm, golden luster. Embrace this as part of its living history!
