Detailed Description:

This bracelet gathers a random meadow's worth of small stones — faceted natural grossular garnet in every shade the mineral offers, from bright tsavorite green through olive, honey, and hessonite amber. Between them sit cream Miyuki seed beads and the palest rose quartz, like small seed heads and single blush petals in the grass, and here and there one iridescent glass bead catches sunlight the way a raindrop would. At the front hangs a tiny silver heart, its face etched with fine rays like a small sun caught mid-set. On the wrist it barely registers weight — about 3 grams — but its colors shift as the hand turns: green in shade, honey in sun, always a little different from the last time you looked.

There is a walk you take in late spring — through a meadow where nothing has been planted, where everything has decided on its own where to grow. The garnets carry every shade grossular takes as a mineral — the bright green of new leaves, the olive of leaves nearing summer, the honey and amber of the same leaves in October. The rose quartz beads are single blooms; the cream Miyuki are seed heads and small white petals; the iridescent glass is a raindrop caught between two stones. Nothing is arranged. Everything is scattered the way a meadow scatters itself, which is to say — not arranged at all, only allowed.

At the front hangs a tiny silver heart, its face etched with fine sunburst rays. It is not a big heart. It is not a loud declaration.
