A brass jack-o'-lantern grins from the center of a jet-black agate heart — not menacing, not sweet, but that particular in-between expression that the best carved pumpkins have: the look of something that knows a secret and has decided to enjoy it. The pumpkin is sculpted with its classic ridged body, a short curled stem at the crown, triangle eyes cut deep enough to hold shadow, and a wide, crooked grin that is more mischief than malice. The black agate behind it is absolute — no veining, no grey, no concession — polished to a mirror depth that makes the golden pumpkin look as though it is floating in the dark the way a real jack-o'-lantern floats on a porch at midnight, lit from inside by something you can't see. At 10.9 grams this is the heaviest heart in the collection. It sits against the chest with the warm, grounded weight of October itself.
