An oval brass locket with an engraved border of blossoms and curling leaves framing a single large cabochon at its center. The vintage glass stone is a wash of blue and green that pools unevenly across the dome — teal at the center where the colour is deepest, pale aqua where the light hits highest, and a shift of iridescent lavender along the top edge where the glass catches another angle. The brass has the warm tone of aged gold, worked all around the stone into a continuous ring of flowers and foliage. The cabochon’s surface is smooth and domed, and the colour inside it looks less painted than spilled — the way blue-green watercolour behaves when you pour it onto wet paper and let it find its own edges.
THE CHARACTER ARC:
Where the Sea Goes Shallow
If you’ve ever seen a shoal from a boat, you know the moment: the dark open water you’ve been crossing suddenly turns pale, blue-green and lit from underneath, as if someone slid a lantern beneath the surface. A shoal is where the sea remembers it has a floor — where the water gets shallow enough that light can reach the sand and bounce back, turning the colour of the whole patch into something you can almost taste. This stone does the same thing. The deep teal at the center is the water above the drop-off; the pale aqua where the dome rises is where the light pools; the lavender shift along the top edge is the way shoals always have one iridescent fringe when the sun hits at the right angle. The engraved brass border of flowers and leaves holds it the way a shoreline frames a bay. Wear it when you want to carry a patch of easy water with you — the kind of water you’d wade into without checking the temperature first. Open it and place inside whatever belongs to the lit-from-below part of your life. Close the clasp, and the shallows stay with you, warm and barefoot and still.
Avoid Water & Chemicals :
Keep all pieces dry and away from water. This is vital for The Renaissance Edit's vintage brass, as it prevents oxidation. Also, avoid perfumes, hairspray, lotions, and harsh cleaning agents; they can dull stones and react with metals.
Proper Storage :
When not worn, store your treasures in a cool, dry place. Keep them out of direct sunlight, ideally in individual soft pouches or a lined jewelry box, to protect their brilliance.
Brass Care :
Vintage brass naturally develops a rich patina over time. For oxidation or spots on Renaissance Edit brass, a gentle polish with a soft cloth will easily restore its warm, golden luster. Embrace this as part of its living history!
