An oval brass locket with a scalloped outer border and fine crosshatched engraving framing a single large cabochon at its center. The vintage glass stone is dominated by vivid red at its heart, with electric blue-violet streaks cutting across the dome like veins of lightning, and the two colours colliding where they meet into flashes of magenta and deep purple. The brass has the warm tone of aged gold, polished smooth around the stone. The cabochon’s surface is smooth and domed, but its interior looks like something in motion — not a settled colour but a collision caught mid-event, with the red radiating outward from the center and the blue cutting through it in jagged streaks, as though the whole stone were lit from behind by two different suns at the same time.
THE CHARACTER ARC:
The Light We Owe to Dying Stars
Here is something you probably already know but is worth saying out loud: almost every atom in your body — the iron in your blood, the calcium in your bones, the carbon in your cells — was made inside a star that exploded billions of years ago. A supernova is what happens when a very large star runs out of fuel and collapses in on itself, then rebounds outward in a blast so bright it can briefly outshine an entire galaxy. For a few weeks, a single dying star is the loudest thing in the sky. And every heavy element in the universe — everything that makes a planet a planet, or a person a person — comes from that moment. This stone is that moment, held still. The red at the center is the collapsing core; the blue-violet streaks are the shockwave moving outward; the places where they collide are where the new elements form, still molten, still radiating. The scalloped brass border holds it like the dark field of sky around a star doing the brightest thing it will ever do. Wear it when you want to remember that most of what you’re made of came from something ending. Open it and place inside whatever you want to carry through your own transformations. Close the clasp, and the explosion stays frozen on your pulse — the single bright second that scatters everything that will become everything else.
Avoid Water & Chemicals :
Keep all pieces dry and away from water. This is vital for The Renaissance Edit's vintage brass, as it prevents oxidation. Also, avoid perfumes, hairspray, lotions, and harsh cleaning agents; they can dull stones and react with metals.
Proper Storage :
When not worn, store your treasures in a cool, dry place. Keep them out of direct sunlight, ideally in individual soft pouches or a lined jewelry box, to protect their brilliance.
Brass Care :
Vintage brass naturally develops a rich patina over time. For oxidation or spots on Renaissance Edit brass, a gentle polish with a soft cloth will easily restore its warm, golden luster. Embrace this as part of its living history!
