Two shells from the same ocean, two entirely different conversations with light. The white mother of pearl carries a gentle, milky iridescence — warm ivory with soft pinks and pale blues that surface only when someone leans in close enough to catch them, the glow of nacre built one translucent layer at a time by a living creature in no particular hurry. The black mother of pearl is its deeper counterpart — not truly black but the shifting grey-green of water too deep to see the bottom of, with flashes of emerald and violet that bloom and vanish like bioluminescence in a midnight current.
